4 Getting a Bang Out of the Guy
The phone rang at Mrs. Butterhorn's house. She recognized the voice of Primula Twitwhistle, Louie's mom. "Say, we're having a little party, and we'd like you to join us."
"Oh?" said Mrs. Butterhorn. "What's the occasion?"
"We're celebrating Guy Fox Day."
"I'm sorry. I didn't hear what you said?"
"We're celebrating Guy Fox Day," Primula chirped a second time.
Mrs. Butterhorn frowned. She thought, "I have no idea what Louie's mother is talking about. I don't want to embarrass myself by asking again." Primula often brought up topics about which Mrs. Butterhorn knew nothing. These conversations made her feel foolish. "What may I bring?" Mrs. Butterhorn asked, hoping that food might provide a clue.
"Your family," said Primula brightly.
"No clue there," mumbled Mrs. Butterhorn.
"What did you say?" asked Primula.
"We'll be there," said Mrs. Butterhorn thinking fast.
"The party is November fifth, at 7:30 P.M." said Primula. "You may bring some snacks if you like. I'm glad you'll be joining us."
