"Louie is an engaging, lively character."
David Reuther, Sr. Vice President & Editor-in-Chief, Morrow Junior Books, New York, NY
"There is nothing 'Left-over' about this book. Carol has served up a very true and very funny 'main course.'"
Dean Marney, author of "The Christmas Tree That Ate My Mother," and director, North Central Regional Library, Wenatchee, WA
"Left-over Louie is a wonderful book by Carol Olsen. She had a camp for kids interested in being in the movie of Left-over Louie. It was lots of fun and all the kids will get to be in the movie. To school Louie wears a French battle helmet that he got at an antique shop. He wears it all the time, even when he's asleep. He digs up junk in his back yard. Louie tries to find the cure for Alzheimers Disease. That's when he goes to the retirement home to study the older people with Alzheimers. It is one of the best books I have ever read. You can find this book at Voyager Elementary School Library."

"What a wonderful book! I really enjoyed reading it and can't wait for the sequel!"
Sheryl Roberts "Sunbrook Communications,"
"Thank you very much for being a presenter at the Washington Association for Gifted and Talented conference. Your presentation on Left-over Louie was a hit and definately contributed to the overall success of the conference. Thank you for supporting WAETAG with your talents"
Cheryl Richardson
"I am purchasing the book for my son's fifth grade teacher at All Saints Catholic School. It will be an end of the year gift from the class."
Paula Bevegni "Puyallup, WA,"
"The book I read for my book report was the best book since I read Call of the Wild. I hope Mrs. Olsen does another book on Louie because her first book was a smash hit."
Nick W. "A Book Report"
"You and I are on the same wavelength. I had lots of "Louies" in my teaching experiences in San Bernardino, California. I admire you for capturing the experiences in writing and sharing it with others."
Miriam Serfass "Coordinator for Gifted Students,"
"My husband empathizes with Louie. He was born left-handed, hyperactive, and mildly dyslexic. (Nobody understood those problems seventy-five years ago!) He didn't learn to read until at age 10, he encountered Popular Science Magazine. It was worth reading. He has retired from several trades and professions, the latest as a family physician."
Ruth Stephens
"Even though I saw Left-over Louie in a couple of early stages, the finished bound book fills me with surprise and delight. The book making is very handsome and professional looking-worthy of your fine text. I am honored too that I received one of the special numbered copies. I hope the book will do well and reach the wide audience that it deserves."
Johanna Hurwitz "children's author-New York"
Children's author, Johanna Hurwitz, and I met for lunch in New York on 12-13-02. We have stayed in contact since the character of Louie won first place in a contest sponsored by Morrow Junior Books and Scholastic in 1986. A visit from Johanna was the prize. There were 1400 characters proposed and the character of Louie Twitwhistle was the national winner.
"Your book Left-over Louie is a delight to read. The
interaction of Louie and Kara in the opening chapter captured my interest. As
the story progressed Louie won my respect and admiration. The evolution of Kara
was beautiful. Having student artists design the illustrations completes the
uniqueness of this book. The message to accept each person "for himself" is
truly valuable. A young reader can see the value of accepting classmates with
their different personalities but also the value of building on one's own
uniqueness. I have reread Left-over Louie and enjoyed it every time. Soon our
grandchildren will be ready for him." Eileen Fisher "Retired Teacher,"
